Tips on what to say in your first letter
- Tell your new pen pal all about yourself -
What is your name? Age? When is your birthday? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Do you have any pets?
- Tell your new pen pal all about your dancing -
How long have you been dancing? What school do you dance for? What grade are you in? What do you like about dancing? What is your favourite dance? What is your favourite feis?
- Tell your penpal about other things you like to do -
Do you have any other hobbies? What do you like to do at school?
- Ask your penpal lots of questions -
When is their birthday? Do they have any brothers or sisters? Do they have any pets? How long have they been dancing? What school to they dance for? What grade are they in? What do they like to do other than dancing?
You could send them a drawing of yourself in your dancing costume or a drawing of yourself and your family.
- Include your address -
Your penpal needs to know where to write back to so make sure you give them an address.

When you receive a letter, write back promptly. Your penpal is probably excited to receive their next letter so make sure you don't leave them waiting too long!
- Be patient -
Sometimes the post is a little slow, especially at times like Christmas or your penpal might have been on busy on holiday or with school work.
